It has been estimated that the number of people who are unemployed in the US alone rose by 1.8 million people in July. However, this trend is global due to the impacts of the current circumstances globally. For companies, especially gig companies, this has led to an increase in the number of applicants on platforms: so how can you filter out the best candidates? It has been estimated that the number of people who are unemployed in the US alone rose by 1.8 million people in July. However, this trend is global due to the impacts of the current circumstances globally. For companies, especially gig companies, this has led to an increase in the number of applicants on platforms: so how can you filter out the best candidates? Here are some of our top tips for improving the hiring process.

1. Use words that really sell your company.

What image do you want to present of your company? Anything that is connected to your company needs to represent the brand as this ensures you get the right people in the right roles. If you are looking for the best of the best, you need to make sure your offer puts you in that position. It is also important to optimise your content with SEO keywords; these will vary depending on the industry you are in and will require a bit of research.

2. Add a filter to your offers.

Adding a filter to your offers, such as those offered by Passbase, will filter out unwanted applicants and ensure you get candidates that are a perfect match to the job(s) available. It automates a once laborious process - filtering through candidates. When receiving floods of applications, it can be hard to manually check that each candidate has the right qualifications or resources for the job, using these filters will make sure only the qualified candidates are sent to your company.

3. Know what you want!

Now more than ever, it is important to be as specific as possible. Does a driver need to have a car with a certain number of doors? Does a cleaner need to be able to work a specified number of hours a week? These things may seem like basic ideas, but are often missed by frantically applying candidates. By asking these questions during the application process in a filter, such as Passbase, you ensure that candidates know what is expected and only apply if they are truly able to work that job.

4. Use social media

Creating a strong online presence can help future workers to establish a rapport with a company as well as establishing credibility. By focusing on using platforms that your target candidates use, you will be reaching not only your target market, but also additional people in the process. As around 90% of the information we process is visual, make sure to make yourself visible and create lasting images.

5. Keep it short and sweet.

This may seem obvious, or not, but keeping job descriptions short and to the point will increase conversion rates. Reduce the number of words you use to a minimum and only cover key information. Use graphics to help solidify the offer: research has found that 80% of people will remember what they see but will only remember 20% of what they read.
